As a little introduction to the blog, a few interesting design aspects about me and some works that I admire.
At the moment a work I am proud of is a sketchup model of my own house which is a work in progress. Thus far it has been an interesting experience measuring up a space which I spend so much time in and drafting it into a model, putting it into a whole new perspective. It is quite rough at the moment but I am determined to develop into something even better in the meantime.
The following isn't a grand post-modern marvel, nor a famous classical facade that's been heavily studied. Its an architectural work that took me by surprise whilst watching an episode of grand designs. It is a three tier house that is made entirely out of cob material (a mixture or water, dirt, and straw), with a meadow roof that dwindles into a countryside landscape. It was amazing seeing how such a large building was supported by a primitive building material, achieving an eco-sensible home that is pleasant to the eye.
This photo was taken on a school trip to Japan back in 2015. At the back of Kanazawa gardens in Kanazawa was an awe-inspiring bit of landscape that almost seems out of place with the city buildings in the background. The gardens were one of the most memorable and beautiful parts of the trip and although there aren't any intriguing buildings in the photo, it definitely is a splendid scene to behold.
